Rich Hill and Sheldon Family Medical Clinics accept Medicaid

Recently, a letter was sent to some area residents by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services that has led to a bit of confusion about insurance issues at some local clinics.

A press release issued Tuesday said the letter was sent to the patients of Dr. John Torontow stating that he no longer accepts Medicaid, and confusion followed for patients of the Rich Hill and Sheldon Family Medical Clinics.

Dr. Torontow no longer provides physician oversight at these clinics. Dr. Dan Barnes is the primary care physician along with the family nurse practitioners, Shanna Griffiths at Rich Hill and Amanda Swink at Sheldon.

"We want patients to know that we accept all types of insurance including Medicaid. We also have reduced fees for the uninsured. Our goal is to serve our communities and we will help patients if we can," stated Jama Bogart, family nurse practitioner and manager for the family clinics in Rich Hill, Sheldon, and at NowCare in Nevada.

What is the fee for the uninsured?

my doc charges a normal rate of $68 for office visit, with uninsured, about $55. So I imagine it is something along those lines. I would call and ask first tho. Great clinics, great people there.

For years my family has had Dr Torontow for our physician. The last time we called the clinic to get an appointment, we were told he was no longer associated with them. I then asked where he was working and was told they didn't know. But, later, I was told by a member of the staff, they couldn't tell me where he had gone, or they would be terminated. WOW. If this is the way they run their business, we will no longer be in need of their services.

Last time I went, with no insurance,to the Nevada Medical Clinic, I was told it was $110. That was probably 5 years ago. I did without because I couldn't afford it.

Sam- the Nevada Medical Clinic is a private company and is not affiliated with the NRMC Clinic groups.

Dr Torontow is seeing patients in Eldorado Springs.

i believe the nevada medical clinic is owned by some of the doctors that work there.
