Challenging trail under development in local park
Parks board member Lance Christie shows the parks board a map of the off-road bicycle trail that Christie and another cyclist have laid out in Postlewaite Park during last Wednesday's parks board meeting. He said that they have spent several hours clearing the trail, which is either 1.6 or 2 miles long, depending on the route that is followed. Christie said that most of the trail can be easily hiked and for cyclists there are several water crossings of varying difficulty, including one that he guarantees will "get you muddy." Unlike other trails in Nevada parks bicyclists take precedence over hikers. The trail, which is still under development, is usable, he said, and will get better with use. Postlewaite Park is located south of Deepwood Cemetary on the east side of Washington Street.
