NEVC boys beat Hume, Hornets win girls game

HUME -- The Northeast Vernon County High School boys basketball team rolled past Hume 53-39 on Tuesday night.
NEVC led 26-20 at the half and extended the lead to 40-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Knights outscored the Hornets 13-8 in the fourth period for the final margin.
Grant Davis scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Knights, while Tanner Stutzman added 11 points and 11 boards. Cody DeOrnellis scored 10 and Jacob Bell added nine points, four assists and three steals. NEVC takes on Bronaugh on Friday. Bronaugh beat Ballard 77-43 on Tuesday. Hume girls win big
Hume cruised to victory in the girls game, 71-14.
The Hornets, who led 19-0 and 36-8, are now 14-2.
Makena Thompson scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Emily Brooks scored 21 and had 12 assists and seven steals in the lopsided win.
Tori Sears also reached double figures for Hume with 10.
Payton Hays scored four and had six rebounds for NEVC. Hume plays at Heartland on Friday.
