Lucille M. Johnston
Lucille M. Johnston, 92, of Liberal, Mo., died on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, Mo.
Mrs. Johnston was born Feb. 19, 1920, at Oskaloosa, Mo., the daughter of John T. and Velta M. Apperson Wirt. Lucille was a homemaker who also had worked at the Sunset Manor in Frontenac and Western Insurance in Fort Scott, Kan. She was reared in Oskaloosa, Mo., and graduated from Mindenmines High School. She had lived in the Oskaloosa area most of her life. She married Wayne C. Johnston on June 29, 1941, at Liberal, Mo. Mr. Johnston preceded her in death Sep. 7, 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Liberal, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Johnston and his wife Kathryn of Liberal, Mo., and Richard Johnston of Bronaugh, Mo.; a son-in-law, Vernon Cliffman of Sheldon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Carolyn Cliffman; and two brothers, Richard and Dean Wirt.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kan.., with the Rev. Elvin Winans officiating. Burial will be at the Shiloh Cemetery near Oskaloosa, Mo. Friends called from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, at the Bedene Chapel, Arma, Kan.
