Darlene A. Bass
Darlene A. Bass, 79, of Nevada, Mo., and formerly of Parsons, Kan., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. She was born on Sept. 30, 1932, in Galena, Kan., to Earl Stanley Holford and Edna Mildred Walters Holford. She married Perl M. Bass in Huntsville, Ark., on June 4, 1951, and he preceeded her in death on Jan. 22, 1997.
Darlene grew up in Joplin, Mo., and graduated from Joplin High School in 1950. She resided in Taft, Calif., for a brief time then returned to the Joplin area before settling in Parsons, Kan., from 1957-1999. She then moved to Nevada in 1999, where she had lived ever since. Darlene was office manager of Loughmiller Chiropractic Clinic in Parsons for a number of years then worked for 15 years for the State of Kansas as a job placement counselor, until her retirement in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Bass Carpino and her husband, Jimmie, of Arlington, Texas, and Martha Jayne Cubbage and her husband, Steven, of Nevada; five grandchildren, Nicholas Carpino and his wife, Deborah, of Arlington, Texas, Matthew Carpino of Arlington, Texas, Lauren Jones and her husband, Daniel, of North Hollywood, Calif., Broc Hammett of Independence, Mo., and Alexa Cubbage of Nevada; one great-grandson, Zachary Carpino of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Shirley Holford of Joplin, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she is preceeded in death by her parents; one sister, Earlene Higginbotham; and one brother, Terry Holford.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 2, at First Baptist Church, Nevada, with the Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. A committal service will follow at 3 p.m., at the Osborn Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, Mo.
Friends may call now and until 9 a.m., day of service, and the family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service at the church.
