Largent files for State Senate seat
State Representative Scott Largent, R-Clinton, filed for the 31st Senatorial District on Tues-day in Jeffer-son City. The newly-drawn 31st Sena-torial District is comprised of Barton, Bates, Cass, Henry, St. Clair and Vernon counties.
Largent has been a small business owner for nearly a decade and a press release announcing his candidacy asserts he "knows what it takes to create jobs in a tough economic climate." Largent has served as 120th District state representative since being elected in 2008; has been chairman of the Children and Families Committee and vice chairman of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee. He also serves on the Veterans Committee and is a member of the Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission. The press release said Largent also a strong supporter of pro-life, pro-agriculture and pro-Second Amendment issues.
"Scott Largent is exactly the kind of leader we need fighting for us in the State Senate," State Representative Chris Molendorp said. "I am proud to support Scott's candidacy because of his commitment to the commonsense values we share."
State Senator David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, State Senator Mike Parsons, R-Bolivar, State Representative Chris Molendorp, R-Belton, State Representative Rick Brattin, R-Harrisonville, State Representative Mike McGhee, R-Odessa, State Representative Sandy Crawford, R-Buffalo, have all endorsed Scott Largent for State Senate, the press release said.
Largent and his wife Leslie have been married for 19 years and have three children, Jesse, Taylor and Seth. Largent earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and his Master's Degree in Public Services Administration from the University of Central Missouri.
Largent served as a police Officer 1991-'99; and he was elected Henry County Coroner in 2004.
