Wilma L. Steele

Wilma L. Steele, 84, Nevada, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2012, at Moore-Few Care Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Moundville, Mo., to David Townsend Brock and Freda Zilliox Brock. She married Monty Steele on Oct. 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1988.

Wilma was raised in Moundville and graduated from the Bronaugh High School. She attended Templeton School of Cosmetology of Kansas City and operated a beauty shop in Nevada for 27 years. She later worked at the Nevada City Hospital for seven years until her retirement. Wilma had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada since 1951.

Survivors include one sister, Doris Guenther, Greeley, Colo., and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Monty, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Lynna Lea Steele; two sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 22, at Ferry Funeral Home with Dr. William Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
