Endurance Series kicks off Saturday
NEVADA -- The Osage Prairie YMCA, First National Bank and Nevada Regional Medical Center are challenging you to participate in the upcoming Endurance Series.
The series is compiled of four separate endurance events. A participant may sign-up for as many or few events as they would like. The basis for the series is to provide entry level exercise events, while also giving more experienced runners a way to compete in multiple events close to home. The first event, a 5K run or walk (3.1 miles) is Saturday, March 24. After completing that distance add a bike ride and a second short run and you will complete the June 2 duathlon. The duathlon is a 5K, 15 mile bike ride, ending with a one-mile run. Now that you have your bike out break out those goggles for a swim and complete the August Triathlon. This is a 300-yard pool swim, 11 mile bike ride, followed by a 5K. You are now a triathlete--celebrate your accomplishments in October at the final 5K.
This series is for the walker, beginning runner or the most experienced athlete. While the focus is completion of each individual race, those who participate in all four events will receive a completion shirt after the last race. An overall point total will be kept and the series winner will be declared after the final race.
