NHS debate and forensics squad showcase tonight
The Nevada High School debate and forensics squad will display their award-winning talents for the public at 7 o'clock tonight, at the NHS auditorium.
The program features a reader's theatre performance of "Poe Into the Night" by Linda Burson with interpretations of Edgar Allen Poe's "Alone," "The Black Cat," and "The Conqueror Worm," as well as individual events.
Individual performances are a mixture of humorous and dramatic acting, oral interpretation, and speaking.
Selections include sophomore Kelsey Hammontree's original oratory "Gold Ribbons: More than they Seem" that she will be competing with at MSHSAA State, sophomore Valerie Rainey's prose interpretation of "Black Hair," sophomores Anna Jones and Connor Harbit's duo interpretation of "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change," junior Cody Foster's poetry interpretation of "The Last Four Days," junior Jeremy Gunter's humorous interpretation of "Oedi," and Harbit's humorous interpretation of "The Frog in All of Us."
Admission is free. The squad is directed by Head Coach Angie Bin and Assistant Coach Caitlin Swopes.
