Helen Maurine Chapman
Helen Maurine Chapman, Walker, Mo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at her home in Walker, at the age of 90. She was born on June 19, 1921, in Plainview, Neb., the daughter of Martin Andersen and Mabel Nelson Andersen.
She was baptized in the Danish Lutheran Church in Nebraska.
She moved from Nebraska with her parents and brother, Leo, to Arkansas in 1936. She met the love of her life, Raymond Chapman, there, and they were married on July 25, 1939 in Ozark, Mo. He passed away Dec. 11, 1986. Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to garden and work in her flower beds.
She is survived by three children, one daughter, Joyce Terry, of the home and two sons, Bill Chapman and his wife, Roxanne, of Walker, Mo., and Don Chapman and his wife, Judy, of Nevada; six grandchildren, Ronald Terry and his wife, Sonja, Tammy Bailey, Christy Bailey and her husband, Randy, Travis Chapman and his wife, Latisha, Joe Chapman and wife, Janelle, and Taylor Chapman; two stepgrandchildren, David Hazel and his wife, Sheri, and Dana Diamond; 11 great-grandchildren, Dustin Terry and his wife, Jessica, Tiffany Terry, Cody Terry, Courtney Bailey, Zachary Bailey, Nicole Bailey, Danielle Bailey, Kaitlin Chapman, Blake Chapman, William Chapman, and Riley Chapman; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Stephanie Diamond, Layne Diamond, and Jacob Hazel; two great-great-grandsons, Michael Wilson and Aiden Terry; one great-great-granddaughter, Rhylinn Bailey; and one stepgreat-great-grandson, Aiden Diamond. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother; and one grandson, Jeffery Terry.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home and the family will receive friends at the funeral home today, between 7 and 8 p.m.
