Sheriff's Office, jail have new phone numbers

The Vernon County Sheriff's Office and Jail have changed their phone system and service due to circumstances beyond their control. As a result, the old numbers will no longer be valid as of Monday. All of the numbers are a local call, just as they were before, according to a news release.

The new numbers are: emergency number 911; administration (417) 283-4400; jail (417) 448-4411; non emergency (417) 667-6042 and (417) 448-2710. The new fax number is (417) 448-2580, and to report a crime or provide information regarding a previous crime, call the Tips Hotline at (417) 283-4355.

Why did they have to change their telephone numbers?
