Drug Task Force seizes two pounds of meth

On April 9, the CNET Drug Task Force arrested two suspects and seized two pounds of methamphetamine and "an undisclosed amount" of cash during an operation that has been in the works for some time, according to Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman.
According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, the drug arrest originated from an investigation initiated by a CNET Drug Task Force agent at a residence in the area. After a month-long investigation, two arrests were made at the Nevada Wal-Mart parking lot Monday evening.
In custody and pending formal warrants are a female from the Kansas City, Kan., area and a male from the Kansas City, Mo., area. Names and specific charges will be announced when charges are official.
Peckman said the two pounds of uncut meth has an estimated street value of $100,000 to $120,000. If the meth were to be "stepped on," or cut -- which means adding products to the meth -- it could turn into four pounds, which would double the street value from the original estimated value.
Peckman also said "everything went very smooth" during the arrest. "It was a big surprise for them (the suspects)."
The CNET Drug Task Force is made up of deputies from sheriffs' offices from surrounding counties including, Vernon, Bates, St. Clair, Cedar and Dade counties.
