Kansas man injured during Tuesday accident on U.S. 54

A Shawnee Kan. man was injured in an accident that occurred on U.S. 54 Highway 10 miles east of Nevada, on Tuesday. Jay D. Battenberg, 58, of Shawnee suffered moderate injuries during the collision, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Corporal James E. Wilde.

The accident occured about 2:45 p.m. when the eastbound 2003 Acura MDX driven by Battenberg pulled to the shoulder of the roadway and attempted to make U-turn in front of an eastbound 2010 Freightliner conventional truck driven by Robert A. Teague, 50, of El Dorado Springs, Mo.

Battenberg was transported the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada.
