Cottey's softball season comes to an end

UNION -- The season ended for the Cottey College softball team over the weekend at the Region 16 tournament in Union.

The double-elimination tourney saw the Comets lose in the first round to Mineral Area College 5-3. St. Louis defeated Cottey 10-2 in the consolation round.

Cottey went 2-18 this season.

East Central won the Region 16 championship by beating St. Louis 1-0.

East Central will now host a district playoff on May 4-5. The winner of the district series will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Clinton, Miss.
