More vandalism reported in Nevada

More property damage at recreational facilities was reported Wednesday, when several "X" marks were reported scratched into the painted area of the concession stand at Twin Lakes ball diamond, according to reports from the Nevada Police Department.

These acts follow weekend reports of vandalism at Spring Street Park, where police reported spray painted markings on playground equipment. Commenters on the Nevada Daily Mail's Web site said they'd seen additional damage at that park as well. Weekend vandalism in the form of a piece broken from a water fountain and an overturned portable toilet also were reported over the weekend.

It appears these kids have too much time on their hands. If they are caught; maybe the judge could allow them to work for the Parks Dept for the rest of the Summer without pay. May be this would give them something to do and keep them out of trouble.

or come and clean up the paint marks someone did at the church on hickory and olive one thing for sure they are not the brightest colors in the box and will get caught sooner or later

community service like you described has been a topic before and gets rained on due to supervision issues. I think accountability would solve these but what would I know. Give them tasks not time to serve while on community service, then you don't have to watch them so much. They complete it and stay out of jail they fail and face the consequences.

It seems to me that if the City of Nevada would provide a "free wall" or a designated surface where painting was allowed we could refocus what's considered vandalism on a private structure into an acceptable practice of art.

Or, SAP, perhaps these punks could find something of their OWN to spray paint. Vandals being vandals is what it is. If we were to erect such a wall, I'd bet you a dollar VANDALS would have zero interest in something legal. Do ya think?
