Red Sox split with Joplin Miners

JOPLIN -- The Nevada Red Sox AAA American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader at Joplin on Wednesday night.

Nevada trounced Joplin 22-3 in the first game, but the Miners beat the Red Sox 6-2 in game two.

In game one, the Red Sox scored nine times in the first inning and then put up 10 more in the fourth inning. For the game, the team had 18 hits. Trey Barger had four hits, while Caleb Kauffman had three hits with five RBIs. Alex Payne had four RBIs, Cole Sanderson had three, and Lane Ketterman had three hits. Barger scored five runs, and Ketterman scored three times.

Colten Selvy got the win on the mound in game one. He allowed only three hits and one earned run while striking out five.

In the second game, Nevada was limited to five hits. Kauffman had both RBIs, while Lane Ketterman scoring both runs. Grant Davis took the loss for the Red Sox. The AAA Red Sox are now 13-5.

The Red Sox are at Webb City tonight at 5:30 p.m. for a doubleheader. They'll be home on Monday night against Harrisonville at 6.
