Nevada parks department to host Christmas in July
The Nevada Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating Christmas in July.
On Friday, July 13, the first Flick-N-Float will be offered. Attendees will be able to swim, float, splash and enjoy an evening at Walton Aquatic Center while watching "Home Alone" on the big screen.
The movie begins at 8:45 p.m., or as soon as it gets dark, with a free family swim beginning at 8 p.m. Although there is no admission fee, it is suggested that those attending bring a new unwrapped toy that will be donated to the Vernon County Ambulance District's Christmas Toy Drive, a news release said.
The concession stand will be open for refreshments.
On Saturday, July 14, the Parks and Recreation Department will host Breakfast with Santa.
The parks department received word Santa will be traveling through on his way back to the North Pole from vacationing in the Bahamas.
This will be a chance for kids to get their Christmas lists in early. Biscuits and gravy will be available from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Franklin P. Norman Community Center. The breakfast is free to those who bring a toy to donate to the Vernon County Ambulance Toy Drive, or $2 per plate. There is also a rumor that a snowball fight is in the works, the release said.
