Griffons to face Mudcats tonight in championship

The Chillicothe Mudcats outscored the St. Joseph Mustangs 12-6 Thursday night in an elimination game in the Heartland Regional Tournament in St. Joseph to advance to the championship game tonight at 6 with the Griffons. If the Griffons lose, a second game will be played to determine the champion.

The Griffons beat the Mudcats 9-1 in the opening game of the tournament and then beat St. Joseph 9-3 on Wednesday to remain undefeated going into the championship game.

The winner of the tournament championship receives a berth in the 78th Annual NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan., July 28 through Aug. 11.
