Lady Tigers tennis falls to Lamar

The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team got back into action Thursday night, hosting the Lady Tigers of Lamar on the courts at Nevada High School with less than stellar results.
Coming off of an 8-1 drubbing at the hands of Carthage on Tuesday, the Lady Tigers were hoping to get back on the courts quickly and erase the bitter taste of defeat from their mouths, but that was not to be as Lamar was able to take six of the nine matches played to secure the victory.
"(We) lost, but played better," Lady Tigers head coach Sam Short said. "Our girls just need some confidence. Taking nothing away from Lamar, their girls are all seniors that have played for four years. That makes a big difference!"
The Lady Tigers were able to pick up just one win in singles competition as Regan Kimbrough kept up her winning ways against Lamar's Taylor Clements, winning 8-6. It was a different story in doubles play, however, as the team of Kimbrough and Jessica DeCocq defeated Clements and Rose Compton, 8-8 (7-3) and Nevada was also able to pick up a victory in the No. 3 doubles contest.
The Lady Tigers are set to get right back into action again today, as they head to the year's first tournament, the Warrensburg Invitational at 9 a.m.
