Lady Tiger golfers fare well at Girard

GIRARD, Kan., -- The Nevada Lady Tigers golf team once again gave head coach Brian Leonard a lot to smile about as they competed in the Girard Invitational tournament at Girard Municipal Golf Course Thursday.
Despite a 45-minute lightning delay, the tournament was completed without a hitch on just one day and things went very well for Leonard's squad. As a team, the Lady Tigers posted a strong tally of 434, that was good for third place overall.
Danielle Smith placed sixth individually with what Leonard called an "outstanding round of 96, one of her best rounds of her career," to earn a medal. That was the only medal of the day for the Lady Tigers, but Hannah Householder didn't miss the cut by much, taking 11th with a final score of 104.
Rounding out the order for Nevada was Michael Jones, who finished at 114, Maddie Johnson at 122 and Maddie Johnson at 123.
The next outing for the Lady Tigers is scheduled for Monday in the Marshfield Tournament, which will be played on the same course as this year's district tournament. Tee time is set at 9 a.m.
