The Nevada Middle School seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams opened the 2012 season Thursday evening at Nevada Middle School against Webb City with mixed results.

For the seventh graders, things started off rough and didn't get much better throughout the night as Webb City swept both the A and B matches. In the A match, Webb City won in two sets by the final scores of 25-12 and 25-17, while the B team was able to force a decisive third set after winning the opener, 25-19.

Webb City recovered quickly, however, and was able to win the final two sets by the scores of 27-25 and 25-21 to take the match and complete the sweep.

In the eighth grade matches, things went much better for Nevada. Webb City lost the opener of the A match by the final score of 25-9, but was able to force a third set to decide the match when they took the second set by the same 25-9 score, but Nevada ultimately held on and was able to win the match with a victory in the third set by the final score of 27-25.

In the B match, things went even better for Nevada, as Webb City went down in just two sets by the final scores of 25-13 and 25-22.

Both the seventh and eighth grade squads are scheduled to be back in action on Monday, when they head out on the road for the first time this season to take on Pittsburg Middle School. The seventh grade A match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
