Nevada softball defeats El Dorado Springs

NEVADA -- Fresh off of a road victory at Carl Junction, the Nevada Lady Tigers softball team added yet another notch to its cap Thursday with a victory over the Lady Bulldogs of El Dorado Springs.
Head coach Tammy Holcomb's squad took advantage of five errors to score eight runs in the second inning on the way to a 13-1 victory at Bushwhacker Field. The game was called after the top of the fifth inning and the Lady Tigers took the victory by the run rule.
Seniors Ashley Shumaker and Christian Novak both went 2-for-3, including a two-run homer by Shumaker and a two-run double by Novak. Novak finished the game allowing just one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks in five innings in the pitching circle.
Mackenzie Pritchett went 3 for 4, with 2 RBIs; Cheyenne Brewer was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Tayten Starlin had one hit and 2 RBIs; Madeline Culbertson had one hit, and Michaela Brewer recorded one hit and 2 RBIs.
The Lady Tigers also won the junior varsity game by a final score of 7-6.
With Thursday's win, Nevada's record is 8-3 on the season and the Lady Bulldogs are 3-6.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to be back in action on Monday, when they start a week-long roadtrip with a varsity/JV doubleheader against Monett at 5 p.m.
