Sheldon, NEVC compete in Thomas Jefferson tournament

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Lady Panthers of Sheldon and Northeast Vernon County Lady Knights volleyball teams both competed in a tournament Saturday at Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School.

The hosting Lady Cavaliers defeated the Lady Panthers by the final scores of 25-19 and 25-19, in the first pool match, while the Lady Knights split with Sheldon in the second match, 25-14 and 25-21 and Thomas Jefferson swept the Lady Knights in the third pool match, 25-11 and 25-14. In bracket play, McAuley Regional eliminated the Lady Knights from the tournament with a two-set victory by the final scores of 25-14 and 25-17, while Sheldon advanced with a victory over Exeter, 25-16 and 25-16, before falling to Pleasant Hope in the semi-finals by the final scores of 25-16 and 25-8.

Pleasant Hope defeated McAuley Regional in the finals to take the tournament title.
