ASH GROVE, Mo. -- The Nevada Lady Tigers varsity volleyball team found itself in one of the toughest contests of the year Tuesday night at Ash Grove High School.
Ash Grove came into the night with a record of 18-2 and gave the Lady Tigers all they could handle throughout the match. All three sets were separated by a combined total of six points, but the Lady Tigers ultimately came out on top by the final scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 29-27 -- only dropping the second set.
"Tonight was a team effort. It was a very scrappy match and Ash Grove was a very good team, having a record of 18-2 before we played them," Lady Tigers head coach Ashley Thoreson said. "The girls did a great job of coming out intense and ready to play. Although we still had our ups and downs throughout the match, we played together and were able to win in a hard-fought third set."
Morgan McNeley led the Lady Tigers with three aces and 34 assists on the night, while Bree Reppert recorded 21 digs -- just one ahead of Sharla Quick, who finished with 20. Regan Kannady finished the night with team-highs in blocks with four and kills with 12.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to be back in action tonight, when they take on McDonald County at Nevada Middle School on Dig Pink Night for breast cancer awareness.
