Healthy Nevada: Residents commit to better health

Nevada Daily Mail
Hundreds of area residents were greeted by sunny skies and Kansas City Chiefs mascot KC Wolf, who was accompanied by a few of the NFL team's cheerleaders, Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Walton Park.
Hundreds gathered for the Healthy Nevada kick-off event, a community-wide event featuring plenty of free activities for adults and children, a fitness walk and a pledge to start taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

Opening remarks and a proclamation were delivered by Nevada Mayor Brian Leonard; and representatives from a variety of local organizations and from Cerner Corp. were present for the kick-off walk.
KC Wolf led the march from the upper shelter house at the park, along the lake to the end of the course, where attendees were encouraged to sign a large pledge canvas, indicating their promise to make healthier choices in the future. Those who signed received a commemorative T-shirt.
Other activities included a variety of booths providing health information and screenings, information about local activities and fun things to do.

Inflatables, face painting and games rounded out the fun.
