Middle school wrestling season opens

COLUMBUS, Kan. -- The Nevada Middle School wrestling team opened its season at the Columbus Tournament Saturday.

Hunter Balk put up the strongest performance of the day for Nevada as he took first in the 100-pound A bracket. Jacob Johnson nearly echoed that performance at 180 pounds as he took second.

Camerian Diez rounded out the order for Nevada in A bracket competition, taking fourth at 120 pounds. In the B bracket, Cayne McVay took second at 180 pounds.
