The Nevada Middle School Accelerated Social Studies Class spent the week before the election "getting political" by planning, organizing, and officiating their own school wide election. Students were assigned to one of nine election committees ranging from voter registration to media and advertising. Each committee was responsible for specific tasks related to the election and the election process in order to prepare all students and staff to participate in the election. Nevada Middle School students spent the week before the election examining the candidates and the issues and using their critical thinking skills to make an informed choice. After 577 ballots were cast, Governor Mitt Romney was declared the NMS winner with 379 votes to President Barack Obama's 198 votes.
