William Lyle Marshall
William Lyle Marshall passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 12. He was born on Dec. 9, 1925, in Harwood, Mo. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Maye of 60 years; parents, Virgil and Beulah; brothers, Shelby, Dale, and Paul; and sister, Hazel Smith. He is survived by his sister, Anne (Lowell) Yazel of Nevada; his sons, Mark (Susan), Matt (Melissa) and Mike; grandsons, Billy (Bethany) and Adam; great-granddaughters, Emma Grace and Caitlynn Maye.
He joined the Merchant Marines in 1943 and served in World War II; he was also a P.O.W. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 46 years of service, and then worked for Radiology Associates for 15 years; he was a long-time member and usher of Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Shades Mountain Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
