Nevada Mayor Brian Leonard announced Wednesday the Nevada City Treasurer Mike Wade has submitted his resignation, effective Dec. 31, to take a full-time position with the city of Joplin.
Wade was hired as Nevada's treasurer Jan. 9, 2012.
Leonard said that the council appreciates Wade's work in preparing the 2013 budget that the council approved on the first reading by a 4-0 vote during their Dec. 4 meeting. The council will hold the second reading of the budget ordinance during their Dec. 18 meeting at 7 p.m., in the council chambers in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash.
Leonard added that Wade's financial guidance and experience in dealing with municipal finances has been a tremendous benefit to the city of Nevada and his opinion has been greatly respected by the council, who wish him the best in the future.
