Nevada wrestlers fall to Har-Ber, McDonald County in double dual
Springdale, Ark., Har-Ber and McDonald County defeated the Nevada Tigers wrestling team in a pair of duals Tuesday night at McDonald County High School. Har-Ber edged the Tigers, 42-41, and the Mustangs posted a 48-36 win in the second dual of the evening.
Tigers winning their matches in both duals included Slade Stiles at 120 pounds, who won by tech fall in the Har-Ber dual and went on to pin his Mustang opponent, Dayton Miller with a pin and a forfeit at 106, Johnathan Ireland with two pins at 152, Scott Swink with two pins at 170 and heavyweight Sam Ellifrits with two pins. Daxtyn Osburn and Colby Smith defeated their Har-Ber opponents with pins at 132 and 220 pounds, respectively, and Trey Pritchett was awarded a win when his McDonald County opponent forfeited the 195-pound bout.
Tigers head coach Devin White was pleased with the efforts of his grapplers, especially in the near-miss to Har-Ber because they won all seven of the contested matches, only to come up short by just one point, thanks to the 42 his squad gave up through open weights.
The Tigers are scheduled to get back in action on Saturday, when they head back out on the road to compete in the Bill Skillman Memorial Duals Tournament at Kearney, Mo., High School.
