Eighth grade boys split with Carthage
The Nevada eighth-grade boys' basketball team split with Carthage Monday night.
The A team rolled 50-19.
"We executed well in the second half, outscoring them 33-13," noted coach Tyson Beshore.
Matt Sommer and Patrick Ferry led Nevada offensively with 24 and 13 points, respectively.
"Tyler Ketterman (eight rebounds) and John Quitno (nine steals) led us defensively. I am really pleased with the effort they have played with the past three games," Beshore said.
"We travel to Seneca on Tuesday and have our last home game Thursday versus Joplin South at the middle school.
"Both the A and B teams are fun to watch."
In the B game against Carthage, Nevada was nipped, 44-43.
"We had our chances but the ball didn't fall when we wanted it to," noted Coach Beshore.
"The boys are really playing hard and getting better every game."
Cameron Diaz had 31 points. Tyler Seaver had six points.
"Thomas Prewitt rebounded well and he goes full speed every time he steps on the court," noted the coach.
"I am really proud of how we are playing as a team."
