Mary R. Nichols

Mary R. Nichols, 80, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center, following a lengthy illness. She was born June 6, 1932, in Nevada, to Amos Malcom and Clarisa Sue Harkrader Malcom. She was married to Carl L. Nichols on May 8, 1948, in Nevada and he preceded her in death in 1984.

Mary grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada Schools. She worked many years for Key Work Clothes, Nelly Don, and Junior House. Mary later worked several years for Barnes Realty, until her retirement. She was a member of the Community Christian Church and was an avid bowler for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana David, Nevada; her son, Gary Nichols and his wife, Patti, The Villages, Fla.; six granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; and two sisters, Donna Heuman and Opal Meyer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Gary Kurtz officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 5-6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home.
