Four Northeast Vernon County Future Farmers of America members will receive their State FFA Degree at the Missouri State FFA Convention April 19.
The four are Ryann Ford, Payton Hays, Nona Salsbury and Kyleigh Williams-Maus.
The State FFA Degree is given to the top members of a State FFA Association. FFA members must meet certain requirements to receive a state degree.
They must have received a Chapter FFA Degree, been an active FFA member for at least two years at the time of receiving the state degree and completed two years of systematic school instruction in agricultural education, which includes a supervised agricultural experience, according to a news release.
For their SAE project, students have to earn and invest at least $1,000 and they must work on their project at least 300 hours outside of class.
Members must demonstrate leadership by performing 10 parliamentary procedures, giving a six minute speech on a topic regarding agriculture or FFA and serve as an FFA officer, committee chairperson or be a committee member.
They must obtain a satisfactory academic record, which is certified by the agriculture teacher and the school principal or superintendent. Not only do the members have to help plan their chapter's activities, but they also have to participate in five different FFA activities above the chapter level.
They will also need to complete at least 25 hours of community service in two different activities.
