Bronaugh graduate Douglas named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday, March 18, that five Central Methodist University women's basketball players have been named 2012-13 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Seniors Raylyn Nuss, O'Fallon, Mo., and Brittney Hotsenpiller, Smithton, Mo., along with juniors Katlyn Douglas, Bronaugh, Alison Durst, Appleton City, Mo., and Nakia Robinson, Saint Louis, Mo., are among 125 Division I women's basketball student-athletes who have been named to the award list. Nuss and Hotsenpiller earned the honor for a second consecutive season.

Vanguard (Calif.) leads all institutions with six athletes on the list.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

Durst is the daughter of Mike and Ruth Durst, of Appleton City. She is a 2010 graduate of Appleton City High School and is majoring in elementary education.

Douglas is the daughter of Shane and Gerri Douglas, of Bronaugh. She is a 2010 graduate of Bronaugh High School and is majoring in athletic training.

Douglas plans to finish her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training at CMU before completing her doctorate in physical therapy.
