Nevada golfers fare well at Oak Grove Tournament
BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- "I can honestly say, that's the first time I've played golf when there was snow on the course." The Nevada Tigers golf team and head coach Brian Leonard were on equal ground when it came to the confusion caused by the fact that when they went to Adams Pointe Golf Course for the Oak Grove Tournament Thursday and found snow on the fairways, greens and "basically, the entire course."
Despite the snow, however, the tournament went on and the Tigers brought home a tie for third place. "It really helped us see what was up there and how we should play it," Leonard said.
Freshman Levi Palmer finished fourth, individually, with what Leonard called a "great round of 80."
I was really impressed with that score," Leonard said. "He had a good day."
Junior Keegan Bell was seventh with an 82 and Andrew Quitno just missed a top-10 finish with an 85.
The Tiger golfers are scheduled to compete in the Bird Dog Invitational Monday, at the Briarbrook Country Club, Carl Junction, weather permitting.
