Nevada JV track fares well at Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. --Nevada Tigers and Lady Tigers freshman and sophomore track and field athletes competed Tuesday on the road and brought home a number of strong performances.

Brooklyn Vincent was second in the discus with a distance of 99 feet, 11 inches and the shot put with a distance of 30-7, while Mindy Hendren was third in the long jump at 14-10 and Lauren Watts placed fourth in the high jump at 4-4. Amy Shumaker was fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 1 minute, 2.2 seconds and seventh in the 100 hurdles in 19.98 seconds.

Lexie Overton was fifth in the 100 hurdles in 19.52 and eighth in the 100-meter dash with a a time of 14.88. Emma Denman was fifth in the pole vault with a height of 7-6 and Shadol Blanchard was eighth in the 100 hurdles in 20.08 and the 400-meter dash in 1:17.1.

The Lady Tigers 4x100 relay team was fourth with a time of 57.12 and the 4x200 relay team was third in 1:59.3.

Connor West was second in the high jump with a height of 5-8, fourth in the triple jump at 37-3 and fifth in the long jump at 18 feet even. Michael Geeding was third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.6 and eighth in the 300 hurdles in 49.4. Michael Brown was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 12.2 and Tristen Smith was eighth in the 400-meter dash in 58.4.

The Tigers' 4x100 relay team of West, Smith, Brown and Brandon Clapper was fourth in 49.1.
