Music on the Square has backup plan for tonight's kickoff
"Music on the Square opens tonight, rain or shine. Doug Harper, who heads the coordinating committee, announced Wednesday that in case of rain the performance will be moved to the Art Shop, 104 East Cherry St.
Grandma Strange of Springfield will perform tonight with a show of blues, folk and soul. Members of Random Strangers will perform classic country.
Harper said most businesses on the Square that are retail or food establishments have agreed to stay open until at least 6 p.m., and some until 7 p.m.. or later to add excitement, and support for the event.
Performers confirmed for April 23 are Shane Moses, blues, rock and country; May 2, Matthew Harper, folk, county, and gospel; May 9, the "Geezers" country duo featuring Joe Willis, May 16, Con-Fuzion, a variety band: May 23, Shanna Johnson, and May 23, Sick of the Day, Acoustic Christian Pop Music.
