Council sets sights on bicycle race
The Nevada City Council will consider three ordinances during their regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the aim of bringing a criterium bike race to Nevada in July.
The council will meet in the council chambers in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.
First up will be the second reading of an ordinance to use money from the tourism tax to provide prize money and other funding for the USA Cycling Criterium Bike Race.
The second will be the first reading of a special ordinance approving a contract with Quantum Racing LLC, for a criterium race on July 13 and 14.
The third ordinance will be the first reading of a special ordinance approving a contract with Christa Atchison, race coordinator for the criterium race.
Other items under consideration include the first reading of ordinances approving: a contract with Wells Fargo Bank for the donation of property adjacent to Bryan School and a contract with APAC Missouri Inc., Springfield, for the 2013 transportation sales tax street projects.
The council will be holding final reading of ordinances to: set rural fire membership fees for the period of July 1 to June 30, 2014; change the zoning on property in the 500 block of east Austin Boulevard from R-3, apartment complex, to C-0, commercial district and to vacate utility easements in lots 40,41, 42, 45, 46, 47, 75, 76 and 77 in the Eastview Heights Subdivision.
The council will also consider appointing of Gerald McBeth to the Nevada Library Board.
