Memorial race to honor victims
On April 15, two bombs detonated at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and injuring 264.
To mark the one-month anniversary and to honor those affected by the bombing the Nevada Parks and Recreation Depart-ment will be hosting a Boston Marathon Memorial 5K Run/Walk Wednesday.
The event will kickoff at 5 p.m. at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center, with the 5K run starting at 5:30. Participants will then have until April 15, 2014, to complete another 20 miles on their own.
On the one-year anniversary of the bombing, the parks department will host another 5K race, giving the participants an opportunity to complete a 26.2 mile marathon over the 12-month period.
The parks department will be sending a signed banner and any donations collected to "The One Fund" to help support those families affected by the bombing.
There is no registration fee for this event, but donations will be accepted.
