Leash law on council agenda
A general ordinance requiring dogs to be on a leash held by the owner while in the city parks will be on the Nevada City Council's agenda Tuesday night.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.
A second important item on the council's agenda Tuesday is an amendment to the city's 1984 Comprehen-sive Plan to add a section on pedestrian and bicycle transportation.
The council will also be considering an ordinance changing the zoning on property at 120 S. Ash St. and Earp Park from R-3, apartment district, to C-3, commercial district at the request of the city of Nevada which owns the entire block.
Other items on the council's agenda include two resolutions. One waives the prohibition on the discharge of firearms in the city limits to allow the National Wild Turkey Federation to hold its annual youth event in Marmaduke Park. The second waives the prohibition on discharging firearms as well as the closing hours at Marmaduke Park so the Missouri Osage Territory Muzzleloaders can hold its annual outdoor classroom for area fourth graders and a sanctioned Missouri Offhand shooting competition on Sept. 12, 13, 14 and 15.
The council will also consider bids for slurry oil for the city's 2013 street slurry seal program.
