The Missouri Hospital Association announced three members of the Nevada Regional Medical Center's board of directors as recipients of their Governance Awards at the MHA Leadership Forum Luncheon held June 13 at Osage Beach.

Dr. Glen Rogers, NRMC board chairman, was presented with the 2013 Excellence in Governance award. Only six individuals in Missouri are chosen for the honor. Recipients are selected based on selection criteria including leadership skills, grassroots advocacy, community involvement, meeting participation and personal development.

"Engaged trustees help support strong, locally focused hospitals," said Herb B. Kuhn, MHA president and CEO. "It is our honor to recognize these dedicated community leaders with MHA's Excellence in Governance Award for their service to the community and hospital."

Since 1985, MHA's Excellence in Governance award has been given annually to hospital board members for their dedication to exceptional health care. Award recipients are chosen by MHA's district council presidents.

Steve Russ and Jenise Burch, NRMC board members received the 2013 Governance Excellence Certificate Award for completing a voluntary educational program for hospital trustees. The Governance Excellence Certificate Program was launched in 2011 to enhance hospital trustees' skills and provide them with increased knowledge of issues in hospital governance to help them make effective decisions for their organization.

"Each of the above individuals are to be commended for the work that they do for NRMC and our community," a news release from NRMC stated.
