Sheldon schools add three new teachers

Three new teachers are joining the Sheldon R-8 School District this fall.

"Teaching anatomy is my passion," Holz said.

A graduate of Mis-souri Southern State Univer-sity, she taught vocational and traditional science three years in Monett.

"Sheldon is a really nice school," she said. "I enjoy sharing my passion with students and seeing them excited. The faculty and staff have been welcoming."

She added both her parents were teachers as well.

Brand-on Jack-son teaches vocational agriculture.

Grow-ing up in Buffalo, he worked on his family's farm.

"I was raised up around agriculture; it's a huge part of my life," Jackson said.

A graduate of Missouri State University, he earned a Bachelors of Science in agricultural education and student taught at Halfway High School in Halfway, Mo.

He said while the workload and after school hours can be difficult, "I love kids and young people."

"Sheldon is a good, agriculturally based community," he added. "I've received tremendous support from administrators, the board and community."

Elizabeth Rayburn teaches elementary special education.

Originally from Hume, and a graduate of Pittsburg State University, Rayburn taught fourth grade in Nevada for two years and four years in Sheldon before taking a break to pursue nursing.

She said she returned to teaching because, "I enjoy helping students become productive citizens."
