When does worry become depression? Is anxiety over everyday things normal? These are the kinds of questions many of us wrestle with. We wonder if the way we feel, and the things we do to change how we feel, are healthy or not.

The best thing any of us can do is get information and remove doubt. That way we either reach peace of mind or know that we need to take positive action to remedy the situation. After all, they say that ignorance is fear. Well, on the flipside, knowledge is power. And when it comes to our mental health, we need to have that power.

Now there's an easy way to learn more about your mental health.

We're hosting a program called Feel Good Bingo which offers a fresh spin on the classic game. Instead of using letters and numbers, each player's game card contains various pictures depicting common symptoms of depression.

Care Connection for Aging Services is sponsoring the program and it will be offered at the Vernon County Senior Center, 301 N. Main, Nevada, Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m.

Care Connection for Aging Services is the local area agency on aging specializing in information and resources for seniors age 60 and over. Care Connection also has a wealth of health and wellness programs that range from personal health action plans and exercise to self-management of chronic diseases and memory workouts.

Despite the fact that depression affects more than 7 million of the 39 million Americans aged 65 years or older, only about 10 percent actively receive treatment. Feel Good Bingo creates a comfortable atmosphere for older adults to learn to identify depression in themselves and in others. For more information please contact Care Connection at 1-800-748-7826.
