Vietnam Vets coordinate care packages for military

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Care packages are being sent to those serving overseas in the military by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 918.

The veterans' group is asking area residents to help by contacting them with the names and addresses of local soldiers from Barton, Bates, Cedar, Dade, St. Clair and Vernon counties.

"It is part of our mission to 'never forget' those who have served and are serving in harm's way to protect our freedoms," said Joe Brooks with the chapter.

"If you know of a husband, wife, son, daughter, friend or neighbor who is overseas in a combat area or an unaccompanied short tour area, contact our chapter so we can send them a care package to let them know they are not forgotten."
