Nevada High School's softball team finished fourth in the El Dorado Springs tournament over the weekend, with a 1-2 record, and fell to Carthage Monday afternoon, 10-4.

Nevada was in pool 1 with Lamar and Miller. The host school was in pool 2 with Archie and Stockton.

The Tigers lost the opener to Lamar 1-0 in a game that was scoreless until the seventh. Alesha Lanning went the distance for the Tigers, giving up five hits during that time.

Lamar got the winning run on a walk, a wild pitch, a fly out to center and a two-out single. Nevada managed just two hits in facing Lamar pitcher Emmie Robertson, who struck out 14.

The Tigers bounced back to down Miller, 19-1, and move into the third-place game as the No. 2 team in the pool against Archie, but lost that contest in a narrow 5-3 decision to finish fourth.

Monday, Nevada matched Carthage with two runs in the first inning and managed one in the third, but the hosts broke through for four more and would add two each in the fourth and fifth innings. The Tigers rallied with a run in the sixth, but it wasn't enough.

Carsten Warner opened on the mound for the Lady Tigers, with Maddie Hedges taking over in the sixth to finish the game.

Warner plated both of her team's runs in the first with a homer. Madi Culbertson chipped in with a double, but the Lady Tigers managed just two more hits on the day.

Carthage finished with seven hits, including a solo home run in the first.

Nevada won the JV team game, 9-0.
