Decisions are important

Friday, September 27, 2013

Dear Editor:

Gun Violence? Isn't that expression kind of like saying "Ice Cream Fattening"? A carton of ice cream sitting in your refrigerator or at your local grocery store is just ice cream. Once you make that decision to put a spoon in that carton and indulge yourself you realize what could happen. Artery clogging, high calorie intake, and weight gain are just a few things that you know will happen by making that decision; however that's a decision we all make.

Or

Like a vehicle sitting in your driveway is just a vehicle. Once you get in that vehicle, turn on the ignition and drive it out of your driveway, it's your personal decision what comes next. Do I drive to the grocery store, pick my kids up from school or drive to the local beach and attempt to run over a few hundred people. That's just what happened in California a few weeks ago.

Or

Like a gun sitting in a drawer or a lock box and that's where it should be. The gun, the ice cream and vehicle won't move until you make a decision. Sane people hunt, target shoot or protect their family and property with the gun.

You and I make sane decisions daily, however, a few people don't.

People's decisions change lives daily -- good or bad.
