Preschoolers take Teddy Bear Tour

Pre-kindergarten Students Livia Troupe, Journee Rimmer, and Teagan Dyer look on during the tour.

The Bronaugh Preschool class along, with pre-kindergarten teacher Julie Forkner and parents, visited the Nevada Regional Medical Center on Sept. 12, for a Teddy Bear Tour.

The Teddy Bear program is designed to familiarize children and parents with the emergency department of the hospital. Children coming to the hospital for the first time are naturally frightened, especially in an emergency situation.

The Teddy Bear tour gives children the opportunity to meet the staff in a more comfortable setting, and tour our facilities. They visited the Emergency Department, Rehabilitation and Diagnostic Imaging Departments, and this year they were able to tour the boiler room and see all the equipment that helps to keep the hospital functioning. The tour ends with a nutritious snack in the cafeteria.

Bronaugh Pre-K Class members are, front row from left, Kutter Peterson, Journee Rimmer, Julie Forkner, Callie Yount, Trevor Yount, back row, Cole Worsley, Aleena Buss, Xavier Rimmer, Khris Alvarez, Tegan Dyer, and Livia Troupe.

Children are asked to bring their "sick and injured" teddy bears or dolls to the hospital and watch as medical personnel take vital signs, examine, diagnose and make them all better.

If you are interested in scheduling a tour please contact the NRMC Community Education Department at 417-448-3622.
