Nevada swimmers fare well in Joplin
JOPLIN, Mo. -- Athletes from the Nevada Tigers swim team won three events Tuesday, in the Joplin Invitational, at Missouri Southern State University.
"We swam well, but it was evident that we needed to shake off some rust," Tigers head coach Ryan Watts said.
Dalton Eador finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, Jesse Claypool won the 100-yard breaststroke and the Tigers' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Claypool, Eador, Thomas Prewitt and Jake Asberry finished first, even though the four had not competed "in quite some time," according to Watts. Asberry finished second in the 100-yard butterfly and third in the 50-yard freestyle, Prewitt swam fourth in both the 100-yard backstroke and the 50 freestyle and senior Anthony Franco made his late-season debut with a 10th-place finish in the 50 freestyle.
The Tigers are scheduled to be back in action next week, when they compete at Springfield Glendale.
"We hope to stay healthy and have a strong performance next week at Glendale," Watts said.
