Sondra K. Dirks

Sondra K. Dirks, 63, Overland Park, Kan., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, in Merriam, Kan., following a lengthy illness. She was born July 31, 1950, in Catron, Mo., to Claude Otis Landis and Mavis June Sanders Landis. She married Adhn Dirks on Nov. 7, 1970, in Prairie Village, Kan., and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1997.

Sondra was raised in Moundville, Mo., and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1968. She was a homemaker and had lived in Overland Park for the past 40 years. Sondra was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, gardening, reading, and traveling to Tennessee.

Survivors include two sons, Justin Dirks, Overland Park, Kan., and Jeff Dirks and his wife, Peggy, Merriam, Kan.; two grandchildren, Blake and Julia Dirks, Merriam; four brothers, Noble Landis and his wife, Mary, Lenexa, Kan., Terry Landis and his wife, Tami, Nevada, Roger Landis and his wife, Nina, Sawyer, Okla., and Ted Landis and his wife, Marilyn, Pearcy, Ark.; and two sisters, Bonnie Souders, Stockton, Mo., and Vonda Landis, Olathe, Kan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Dana Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Welborn Cemetery, Moundville, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 10-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
