Basketball tournament schedules amended

A weather forecast that includes a strong likelihood of snow in southwest Missouri this week has forced officials at both Carl Junction High School and Carthage High School to make some changes to the basketball tournaments each school is hosting.

The semifinals in the winner's bracket of Carl Junction Classic girls' tournament were originally scheduled to be played Thursday, but Nevada High School athletic director John McNeley announced via email Tuesday afternoon that those games will now be played on Wednesday. Schedules will remain the same for Friday and Saturday.

In the boys' tournament at Carthage, both the winners' and loser's bracket semifinals have been moved to Wednesday. Saturday's schedule remained intact, as of Tuesday evening.

Both of Nevada's teams were scheduled to open their respective tournaments Tuesday, but those results were not available at press time.
